Some iPhones record with the video codec HEVC/H.265. This codec can’t be processed by Unscreen. Here’s a few ways to deal with this:
- You can use an online conversion service like Zamzar to convert your video to MP4, which should work on Unscreen.
- You can change the recording settings of your camera and change it to a more compatible format, e.g. AVC/H.264.
- You can use Safari on your iPhone or Mac to upload to Unscreen. In the process, Safari converts the video to a compatible codec.
Free Clips: It's currently not possible to keep the original video sound.
Unscreen Pro automatically preserves the audio track of your original video with the MP4 and Pro Bundle output formats.

You can combine the two files in your video editing software for a final transparency-applied video layer. Take a look at our step-by-step instructions below on how to use some of the most popular software for video background removal purposes:

At the moment Unscreen Pro works very well for videos of people, animals or objects that are clearly the primary subject (i.e. in focus, staying in the scene, separated from background). However, some videos are more challenging than others. When uploading your video for free, we recommend taking a close look at the preview frames to get an impression of the quality level you can expect before you process the video.
All subscriptions are covered by our 14 Day Money Back Guarantee: You get a full refund within 14 days if you are unsatisfied with the results (restricted to 3 video minutes). Have a look at our Refund Policy.
We support all major Credit Cards, PayPal and Apple Pay.
Unscreen Pro supports any framerate and preserves the original footage framerate in the result file. The pricing applies to videos with up to 30 fps. Extra charges apply for higher framerates accordingly:
- Up to 30 fps: Base price
- 30-60 fps: Base price × 2
- 60-90 fps: Base price × 3
- etc.
If you are subscribed to a monthly plan, videos with more than 30 fps deduct more video seconds from your budget accordingly. Before processing a video, the total price or billed length of the file is displayed for your review and confirmation.
Please note that the GIF output format is limited to 30 fps.
Unscreen optimizes videos to reduce unwanted glowing effects or color spills when the background behind a subject is too intense - this helps to bring out details in the cutout.
